Springfield’s Best Member Since: 1995-Charter Member Harter House has been your old-fashioned neighborhood market for nearly 30 years. They feature one of the finest high-quality meat departments in southwest Missouri, along with full-service deli and bakery departments and a complete fresh produce department. In November 1973, Jerry and Barbara Bettlach opened the Harter House Meat Market in a small store on West Sunshine in Springfield. It was a true family operation-Jerry cut the meat, Barbara kept the books and each of the five kids pitched in to help with different jobs. From the very beginning, Jerry and Barbara believed that there was really only one key to having a successful business: treat the customers right! Harter House has been named a W. Curtis Strube Small Business of the Year Finalist and was awarded the Associated Wholesale Grocers 2001 Excellence in Meat Merchandising Award.
